Ethan is passionate about music-based subcultures, radical design and the juxtaposition of analogue and digital media in Graphic Design. In his project, inspired by the 1980s musical scenes, such as Punk, Post-Punk, and New Wave, he sought to explore their individualistic PostModern visual languages and their analogue DIY approach to Graphic Design while combining it with the modern digital medium of augmented reality. By synthesising the physical with the digital, and the static with the moving,
he aimed to visually enhance traditional printed materials, such as posters and zines, to learn of AR’s benefits for more radical promotion within a subcultural context.
