Martina Deguara’s collection – ‘Dot’ – explores the philosophy of minimalism that represents simplicity and ‘the avoidance of the unnecessary’. True to the minimalist nature of this collection, it was initiated by a black dot, representing the ‘self’, drawn on a white surface. This dot was morphed with the application of alcohol, generating a range of shades and hues which in turn represented pentup emotions. The colours extracted, mostly blue, were used in the colour palette for the final collection. A minimalistic ‘timeless’ approach was also taken for the silhouettes with the use of natural fabrics such as silk and linen.
