This dissertation project focuses on how an audience perceives an unseen character in moving image. An unseen character is a character that is not directly seen by the viewer but who is present throughout the narrative despite their visual absence. The narrative of this short film centers around two cousins who meet up and begin talking about their memories of their late grandmother who is personified through the stories they share, and the emotional link between the cousins and their deceased grandmother rather than her traditional visual presence.
