Francesca’s concept is based on the idea of artistic practice as a tool to resolve psychological conflicts.
Her current project focuses on the skin as means of representing the self, exploring its metaphorical qualities to demonstrate a biographical narrative. Her process involves the collection of her memories through reflective writing transformed into a collage using a variety of fragile materials representing one’s experience. By employing a method of continuous manipulation of materials, she symbolically embodies her resurfaced memories. The aspiring artist continuously attempts to conceal her memories, but regardless of her actions they will always be inscribed in her subconscious. The metaphorical transformation of her materials connects to the psycho-biographical links between her and the creative process.
