For Maria Borg journalism is a method of expression, whether it is photo, written, radio, or broadcast journalism. Her thesis combines journalism with drama and film studies. The research explores the theme of female journalists in film. It introduces the female gaze theory in relation to the portrayal of the female journalist in film. It also includes the role of the female journalist, and the #MeToo movement. Her dissertation is a new branch of studies in the local journalism studies spectrum.
