The film project titled ‘What’s Taking You So Long to Die?’ revolves around the theme of self-destruction and mental degradation through the visual means of artifacts and distortion. The film takes a life of its own, constantly shifting mood and tone creating a visceral atmosphere throughout. Through the study and research of Japanese experimental movements such as the Provke street photography movement and ‘80s experimental cinema, this project-based dissertation focused on using Japanese experimental works to create something provocative yet sociopolitical.
